On December 29th, Teamsters Local 638 received a 45-day notice from UPS. The Company states that they intend to close the package center in Devils Lake, ND. UPS states that the package volume will be moved to the Grand Forks, Minot and Rugby, ND locations.

There are currently 21 members who will be impacted, including 17 full-time and 4 part-time employees. Teamsters Local 638 representatives have already met with the affected members and will stay in close contact with all parties to ensure that all 638 member's contractual rights are being preserved throughout this process. 

The notice for the nomination of delegates and alternate delegates to the 2026 IBT Convention is now available.

Teamsters Local 638's Plan Summery for the election of delegates and alternate delegates to the 2026 IBT Convention is now available. 

This summer, Minnesota and North Dakota have seen dangerous temperatures for those working both inside and outside jobs at UPS. At the 2023 national negotiations, we locked in new commitments from the company that would safeguard you against scorching temperatures.

Some of the most basic protections are that management must provide adequate water, ice, and building fans. If your building is out of compliance, alert your Steward or Business Agent.

Article 18 of the contract protects your right to rest in a cool zone when you're experiencing symptoms of heat illness. This is in addition to regular meal and break periods. Notify management and your shop steward if you are experiencing symptoms of heat illness and that you are taking a cool down break as the contract allows. If you are struggling to recover, call emergency services.

Teamsters Local 638 received a 45-day notice today from UPS. The Company states that they intend to close the package center in Owatonna, MN. UPS states that the package volume will be moved to the Mankato, MN and Rochester, MN buildings.

There are currently 23 members who will be impacted, including 13 full-time and 10 part-time employees. Teamsters Local 638 representatives have already met with the affected members and will stay in close contact with all parties to ensure that all 638 member's contractual rights are being preserved throughout this process. 

41 Teamsters Local 638 received a 45-day notice today from UPS. The Company states that they intend to close the package center in Red Wing, MN. UPS states that the package volume will be moved to the St. Paul, MN and Rochester, MN buildings.

There are currently 38 members who will be impacted, including 26 full-time and 15 part-time employees. Teamsters Local 638 representatives have already met with the affected members and will stay in close contact with all parties to ensure that all 638 member's contractual rights are being preserved throughout this process. 

Teamsters Local 638 received a 45-day notice today from UPS. The Company states that they intend to close the package center in Morris, MN. UPS states that the package volume will be moved to the Alexandria, MN, Fergus Falls, MN and Watertown, SD package centers.

There are currently 32 members who will be impacted, including 20 full-time and 12 part-time employees. Teamsters Local 638 representatives have already met with the affected members and will stay in close contact with all parties to ensure that all 638 member's contractual rights are being preserved throughout this process. 

Teamsters Local 638 received a 45-day notice today from UPS. The Company states that they intend to cancel the Day Sort in Minneapolis. Affected seniority employees have been given the opportunity to move to an alternate shift in the Minneapolis building.

Local 638 will be meeting with the Company in the upcoming weeks should there be any additional impacts to Minneapolis employees.
